It’s almost 6am. I’m sitting here in bed with my coffee and the cat, writing this invitation to you. This is how my work days begin – coffee, some random collection of creatures (because I live in a zoo!), and a couple of hours of time to do the work I love before it’s time to get the kids ready for school.
I’ll get up in a few minutes to focus on Mom stuff – kisses good morning, breakfast with the family, finding lost shoes…you know the drill.
By the time the last one leaves for the bus stop, I’ll be ready for a break! So I’ll read or paint – or nap – for an hour, then get back to work on my latest project.
By early afternoon, it’ll be time to toss in a load of laundry or run errands until the kiddos start trickling in from school. Then it’s homework – reminds me of our homeschooling days! – and dinner time.
I’ve been doing this since 2004. Back then, my 6’4” son was small enough to sit on my lap while I worked, our middle two sons were 6- and 18-months old, and our daughter wasn’t even a far-off dream. I’ve built my businesses (several of them – because it took me a while to figure out what my SoulWork really is) during pregnancy, with infants and toddlers, even while homeschooling.
I promise you, I haven’t done anything you can’t do. You’re going to have it so much easier, because I’m going to show you everything I’ve learned so you don’t have to figure it out the hard way.
Over the last few years, I’ve been building my business differently, using methods I learned as a programmer, along with deep inner wisdom, intuition, and creativity. That has made all the difference! I’ve stripped away all that’s non-essential, and handed over the rest to the Muse to add beauty, fun, and inspiration.
